It’s happening. It’s finally happening!! During the Miku Panel on July 7th at Anime Expo, it was announced that the English voice bank for Miku would be released sometime this summer!! They have not specified the exact date, but this is the most promising news about the matter as of recent.
We all knew that this was coming soon, however the question was how soon. Months ago Crypton’s About Hatsune Miku page had displayed information stating that there was an English voicebank to be released this summer. However, that information was removed from the site shortly afterwards. Obviously this information created a lot of excitement at the time, however the removal of the information still left us with an indefinite answer.
Looking back, I assume they wanted to keep the release date of her voice bank under wraps until they could make a big announcement at Anime Expo. On top of that, they may not have had a demo prepared at that time; another reason to hold off announcing it.
During the panel at AX they played a demo song titled “Coming Together” by bsc a.k.a kuni. Now, there are a number of songs that have used Miku’s beta English voice bank, but the only one I’ve heard is the English version of “Tell you World” by kz livetune on his most recent album, Redial. I remember listening to the track for the first time trying to figure out what she was saying.
(Update: There is now a video on Youtube now, so go take a listen!)
Now, from what I heard of the track played at Anime Expo, they have really improved her voice bank. Even though she was hard to understand at first, I thought her English voice bank sounded beautiful after listening to “Tell Your World”, and this is even more so the case now. Apparently the demo track played at Anime Expo will be released on Youtube in the next month or so, so keep an eye out for that.
Well, that’s all the information I have Miku fans! If you want to be one of the first to be notified about more information on Miku’s English voice bank, Crypton has created a site. Check it out below:
